About Anzac Day in Adelaide 2012
ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
There are numerous ways that people choose to spend their ANZAC Day and honour the soldiers that fought for our country and freedom. Here are some things you can do on and around Anzac Day: Visit an Anzac Day dawn service, bake Anzac biscuits, get involved with your local RSL, brush up on history (learn about the legend and tradition), and visit the exhibition of historic War Memorabilia on display throughout April in the Reception Foyer, Norwood Town Hall.
Popular pilgrimages for ANZAC Day include the Dawn Memorial Services and National Service at the War Memorial Museum in Canberra and Dawn Service on Brighton Beach in Gallipoli, Turkey and ceremonies in Villers Bretonneux, France.
