Begun in 1960, the Adelaide festival is held in March every even numbered year. The festival features opera, theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, cabaret and new media. It is based in the city centre in venues along the cultural boulevard of North Terrace, Adelaide Festival Centre and The River Torres.
People who are interested in what’s on in Adelaide should not miss the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Adelaide Fringe Festival is Australia’s largest arts event, second only to the Edinborough Fringe Festival. The festival’s focus is giving a platform for new creative ideas that feature risk, imagination, spontaneity and fun.
Clipsal 500 Adelaide 2009 is round one of the super car championship series- Australia’s largest domestic super car event. In 2008, 291,400 people attended the event over 4 days.
The Adelaide Motor Show 2009 will be held from April 1-5. The show features displays of cars, motorbikes, commercial vehicles, trail riding, number plate auctions and a 4 wheel drive test track.
The Adelaide Cup is a group 2 thoroughbred handicap race run over 3200m at Morphettville racecourse on the second Monday in March
